Email to friends.

June 12, 2007,  This time I really disappeared from the "world of blog" for quite some time.  I've been very very busy between business, personal and travels.

I want to thank very much all of my fantastic clients and friends that are keeping me company in my constant need to explore new worlds both in beadmaking, jewelry and my personal life.

I hope that you too have been having a wonderful time.  Life can be so fantastic.

Since I have last written, I have been on numerous journeys in California - both large and small, plus last summer I spent three weeks in Florence, Ravenna, and Venice, Italy and 10 days in Washington, D. C. early this year.

What an inspiration travel is for me!  I have come up with so many new color and design ideas for both my

February 15, 2006  Sorry that I haven't been keeping up to date; but I have just been so busy with work and with life.

I went to Disneyland for four days the beginning of February when I went down to see my fibromyalgia doctor Dr. St. Amand.  What a journey.  I hadn't been there since high school - quite some time ago.

The ceramic beads turned out great and got out in a timely fashion and so it was back to lampworking and getting all of those great lampwork beads ready for my designers.  What an inspiration!

I also gave a great lampwork class to a very enthusiastic student.  Private lessons are surely the way to go for all.

January 20, 2006  Finished sanding the beads today.  Tomorrow they go into in the kiln for a day.

Tomorrow I go to a christening.

January 19, 2006 Have been working steadily on the beads.  After the beads dry to a leather hard stage, I then put on the design.  It takes a lot of time carving and imprinting the crosses on the beads.

Then, as the individual beads dry I am sanding them to further round the corners as Michelle wanted and to smooth the surface.  Kind of reminds me about how hopefully our rough edges get smoothed in the daily ness of life.

January 18, 2006 I just added another page to show the progression of the clay cross beads that I am making for the Church of Saint John of Rochester.  New pictures will be posted as the project progresses.  Click here for the clay cross bead page.

I want to thank Michelle and everyone else connected for the privilege of being able to create this for them.  It has been a wonderful peaceful meditation upon the church and what it has meant in my life.  I look at the beads awaiting further work and think of these as representations of our growing and changing - always ready for further refining or as I look at them as a whole I think of building blocks, all so individual yet so necessary to the whole.  Anyhow, enough reminiscing for now.

January 14, 2006.  Just finished an order with a jewelry designer.  Beautiful, even if I do say so myself.

Now I am working on an order of clay beads for a church along with a couple of glass orders.  I just love this business.  There are so many interesting directions that it takes me.

Hope everything is going great for y'all.  Take care and enjoy your weekend.

January 11, 2006 Time just passes so fast.  I am still busy with orders.  Thank you.  Thank you.

Lots of fun new ideas in the make and some great variations on some of the old.  What a time.  I love the new colors that I have been working with and I can't wait to share them with you.

Has anybody been to Disneyland lately?  I am thinking of going there for my birthday in a couple of weeks if the weather is nice.   Any suggestions on the best place to stay?  I have to go to Marina del Rey anyhow to see my fibromyalgia doctor Dr. St. Amand.

December 28, 2005 I've still been very busy.  Thank you.  Thank you to everyone.  My arm, wrist and shoulder are about to numb up but I am happy.  This has been a great season.  There's even a start of some different colors for the New Year.  Oh, I love doing this.  A few new designs in necklaces, bracelets and earrings are also in the making.

I hope that y'all are having a wonderful holiday season.  Please keep me up to date in what you'd especially like for you and your designs.  I had some great custom orders over the holiday season that opened my eyes to some new ways to do things.  Thanks a lot.  That's what happens what designers get together.

Best wishes to all.

December 12, 2005  I'm really sorry that I haven't been able to share my adventures with you in the last month but I have been so busy that I actually forget to breathe sometimes.  I need to stop and remember.

Thanks to all my wonderful friends/customers who have been keeping me so marvelously busy; and the season is still going.

This weekend is my second weekend of home studio sales.  Last weekend I had a sale at the studio of a ceramic artist named Janet Ontko who does wonderful Craftsman style tiles and sculptures.  This weekend I had a sale with Rita Watkins at the opening of her new studio in Fowler.

This is such an exciting time of year with just so many opportunities to expand my thinking on my designs - both style and use of colors; and there are some great new ideas coming for the spring season.  I've got some new lines coming out in both my beads and in my jewelry; as well as a new design came out last week in my fused ornaments.  It's so exciting.  I'm having a great time with these new styles as well as with the tried and trues.

November 12, 2005  Thank y'all from coming buy to visit and purchase from me last weekend.  It was great to see you.  I have been so busy with orders that I have not had time to keep my wonderful blog fans up to date on my life.  I promise I will be better when my life calms down.  This rush is absolutely wonderful.

I have made some wonderful hearts for a client and I would like to share them with you.  They can be found on their own page - a page for lampwork heart beads.  Enjoy!

I've seen some wonderful clients this week and have been putting their orders together.

My boyfriend has cooked great dinners for the last two nights and my Mom has made brownies.  Life is good.

November 3, 2005  I'm sorry that I have been absent from communicating with y'all; but it has just been so busy; and the fibromyalgia has been acting up badly now for almost a week.  Pain.  Pain. I don't suffer too quietly.

I want to thank all of you who came by to visit and buy from me at the sale in Los Angeles. It was great to see you.  Thank you for your support.

Now I have been frantically getting ready for another sale this weekend.  Ohhhh, am I aching.  I'm leaving tomorrow and will be returning Monday, so if you don't hear from me for a few days you'll know why and when I return I have some orders to fill.  The beads just keep rolling out.

October 26, 2005  Communicated with four different clients to collaborate on some beads and pendants for their designs.  It is quite exciting to work with people with such wonderfully diverse ideas for their jewelry and accessories.  Thank you all for helping to support me as an artist.  I really appreciate it.

I made a kiln full of beads for a client today and experimented with a couple of new ideas using borosilicate glass.  It's surely busy now with people getting ready for Christmas - and the rush is on.  Hmmmmmm, do I like that.

After spending a very busy day yesterday on my business, I had an exciting evening also with my S.O.  We went shopping at Costco - such excitement and then went to Porky's  to eat and listen to some music.  Some of it were quite similar to Jimmy Hendrix (that is surely some great music).

October 24, 2005  I want to give a big thanks to all of my friends/clients who came out to visit with me and buy at the sale.  It was also great to meet a lot of new people.

I am now getting more beads made for the sale in Culver City Sunday at the Veteran's Auditorium for the Bead Society of  Los Angeles.

A great client came by on Sunday with her son.  It was great to visit with them.

October 21, 2005  Just working away getting ready for the sale tomorrow at River Park.  I also have a few custom orders to have ready this week.  Busy.  Busy.  Busy.

Got an interesting phone call yesterday from Dale Smeltzer of Glass Talk Radio - the internet glass interview show that I have co-hosted a few times.  Lot of interesting happenings are going on his way.  Can't wait to see how they pan out.

October 19, 2005 Had an extremely busy two days.  I've made beads and jewelry both days along with keeping correspondence up to date.

Tonight I went to the monthly meeting of the San Joaquin Clay and Glass Association.  We are having a sale at the Lutheran Redeemer Church on November 19th in Fresno.  We put labels on the postcards.  We also discussed such issues as having a central cashier instead of us each handling our own sales - very poor idea.

Next weekend I have a sale in Culver City at the Veteran's Auditorium.  I still haven't a room reservation.  I went on Priceline Monday night; but I did not get the price I wanted.  I'll try again late Thursday evening.  If I have to get the price much higher I might as well buy the room from the company website.  Then, I can have the option of changing the room if I need to without penalty.

October 17, 2005  The busy time of year has definitely arrived.  I have been so busy with custom orders that I have not had time to write.  Please let me apologize dear readers.

I did go however help at  a fundraiser for A. L. S. on Saturday; so what kinds of wonderful things have your full lives been up to?  Are you making lots of beautiful jewelry to have ready for those holiday sales and home parties?  What are your favorite colors this season?  Mine are all of the wonderful metallic colors; but I still love pinks and greens; and then again there are all of those beautiful two-color and more combinations.

October 9, 2005  Yesterday was more bead making, a client coming over and then another wedding.  This one was out in Reedley.  The place was gorgeous.  It was on a huge ranch that fronted on the river - very classy and what a lot of fun.  I have gone to more weddings in the last three months than I have my entire life.

Today I went to Roger Rocka Theatre to see "My Fair Lady" for the umpteenths time.  I had been dreading it since I have seen it so many times; but the production was great.  There was some really great talent in it - some incredible singing.  I would have enjoyed it even more if my fibromyalgia hadn't been so bad that I could hardly stand to sit still.  Oh, well, life goes on.

October 7, 2005  I have spent this week making beads, jewelry, eyeglass holders and badge holders.  Oh, the wonderful things that a girl gets to do. I just keep coming up with new color combos and other ideas.

I can't think of much to say tonight.  I guess I am about all talked out.

October 3, 2005 Returned from Santa Barbara yesterday evening.  I had a great time.  In addition to an absolutely beautiful wedding and a reception I saw all sorts of wonderful arts and crafts and listened to great blues at the James Joyce Club and had a good dinner at Brophy's at the harbor.

Now it is back to making beads.  I need to get out those orders.

September 29, 2005  Spent all day and evening the last two days making beads - busy, busy, busy.  I've come up with more new designs.  What a lot of fun!  Next week I will design some new jewelry with them and make more.

Tomorrow I go to Santa Barbara until Sunday evening for the wedding of a relative of my S.O.  I haven't been there in years.  (I graduated from school there - the University of Santa Barbara - that was surely a wonderful school and absolutely fantastic fun times.)

September 26, 2005  I got the orders out; the beads made; the sale done.

It was wonderful yesterday seeing many old friends and meeting many great new people.  My S.O. was an absolutely phenomenal help.  It makes it so much easier having someone there with you.  Fantastic.  Fantastic.

Thanks to all of you who stopped by to visit and/or buy.  It was great seeing y'all and getting to chat in person.  Please forgive me if I wasn't able to talk to you as much as you would like but at times it was just soooooo busy.  Take great care of yourself and I look forward to talking in the future.  Just give me a call or an email if you like.

I spent the day doing lots and lots of paper work.  Bank deposits, postcards, business cards, more signs for the booth, and figuring out how much of what needs to be added to inventory for the next sale.  Tomorrow it is back to lampwork bead making.

September 21, 2005 Well, the woman at Corning Museum of Glass was a no show for the interview, but Dale of Glass Talk Radio and  I did interview the fusing artist Newy Fagan.  I always have loved her horses.  Now she is doing frogs also.  I can't wait to see some work with them in it.

I made lots and lots of beads today -- came up with some wonderful new color combos.  I'm very excited about seeing them tomorrow as they come out of the kiln.

I need to be making some jewelry for an order also.

September 20, 2005  Another day has started in the Cederquist residence.  The dogs have been greeted and fed; Mom and I have had a short talk and the "boyfriend" has called and I have tried walking a few times.  I have actually succeeded but a crab looks far more graceful than I do.  Whatever it is that makes me so stiff I do wish it would go away; but it persists after many moons.

Well, back to the world of beads.

September 19, 2005 More beads today.  I did some of my tried and true combos interspersed with lots of new ideas.  I'll get to see tomorrow morning.  Can't hardly wait.

Will be interviewing a glass artist and a person from Corning Museum on Wednesday.  I'm not sure yet when it will air.  I will find out then.

Yesterday I made a great pair of eyeglass holders with some of my clay beads on it for a client.  I had never used them for that before -- just earrings, necklaces and bracelets.  It turned out great even if I say so myself.  You can see them on my eyeglass holders page.

September 15, 2005 I've been making lots and lots of beads and haven't had much time to be on the computer other than to answer mail.  I'm getting ready for a sale at the Ramada Inn on Shaw near 41 in Fresno on the 25th.  The Central California Bead Society is having its annual sale.  I look forward to seeing some of my readers there.

Dear friends out there, please email me and tell me some of the things that you would like me to write you about.  Perhaps you have some questions about some of the topics that I write about.  If so, please contact me.

September 11, 2005  Went to San Mateo Friday to buy lots of crystals, pearls and semi-precious stones.  I hadn't been to a big International Gem and Jewelry Fair in quite awhile.

After that my S. O. and I traveled to Santa Cruz for the night and a great dinner out on the pier.  I hadn't had Chilean sea bass in quite a while.  What a treat!

The next day we went to the Capitola Art and Wine Festival.  This was a first for me.  I saw a lot of artists there that I knew.  The weather was perfect.  Eye candy and beautiful weather and great friends.  What a great way to spend a day.

Now back home, it is time to make jewelry mixing my lampwork beads with my new purchases.

September 8, 2005 Been spending time this week fixing up my studio both upstairs and downstairs.  Upstairs I bought a couple of high back leather chairs to use up when I'm making jewelry, doing computer stuff and working with clients.  These new additions have great lumbar support.  Oh, so  important when you spend a lot of time sitting like I do either at the computer, the desk cleaning beads or the desk making jewelry. At least it's different on my body when I make beads.  I stand.  It's the differences and variety in life that makes it all work.

September 3, 2005  Sorry that nobody has heard from me lately but I have been working on some orders and have had some bad bouts with the fibromyalgia.

My Tempur-pedic bed arrived on Wednesday with its pillow.  I bought one of those adjustable frames so that it goes up and down into different positions.  I love it as a sofa cum chaise lounge.

I've been making lots of lots of beads; both dichroic and not.  Just the time behind the torch is great.  I tried more ideas today so I can't wait to see the results tomorrow when I get to open the kiln.

August 29, 2005  I love the new color of dichroic glass that I received the other day.  I made some great beads with it.

The last three days I have gotten in mucho hours of bead making since I needed to get out two quite sizable orders.  Work!  Work!  Work!  Play!  Play!  Play!!!  I got in quite a few experiments also.  What great results.  Hmmm!  What eye candy!  I've got some great new ideas for designs for jewelry to use them in.  I love this lampwork.  I finally figured out a much better way to be working with the dichroic glass than I was before to give a much more interesting look to it than I have seen in other's work.

Being always open to new experiences, I tried something new on another level.  I went to my first wedding shower ever.

You see.  I am somewhat of a recluse and start feeling that a room is overly crowded when there gets to be more than three in a room -- sometimes even with two is more than sufficient.  I guess you might say that I am claustrophobic.  Anyway, my boyfriend of almost four months' is always inviting me to family affairs and I am always refusing; but I decided that I should give it a try.  I mean after all, fair is fair.  He helped me with my bead sale in Los Angeles.  So, off we went to a Mexican restaurant in Kingsburg called Salazar's.  It was quite good it was in a bar/restaurant.  A couple of drinks can help to loosen a person up a bit.  Anyhow, to make a long story short, I had a great time.  I guess I don't always need to be a hermit.

August 26, 2005  Yesterday Dale Smeltzer of Glass Talk Radio and I interviewed Terry Beamsly and Leonard Marty of the Toledo Museum of Art.  They are opening a Glass Pavilion in mid-2006.  It will house a collection of about 5,000 pieces of glass art in addition to facilities for lampworking,  cold working, a hot shop, casting, mold making and more.  The show will air September 27th.

Today we interviewed Marilyn Catlow a fusing artist from Florida.  She has been in the business for 30 years selling at both art fairs and in galleries.  She does some wonderful wall art.  This will broadcast October 11th.

A little earlier today when I went out to the studio there was a nice big brown box setting there that had been delivered by one of Santa's year round elves -- the Men in Brown.  In it was some wonderful dichroic glass that I had ordered made to my specifications.  Now I will just have to see if this is what I really want.  Today I spent time cutting strips to test in various ways in the flame and in the kiln.  Tomorrow I will start testing.  I wish that I had more time, but I will be working on a client's all weekend and Monday.  She need to create with my lampwork beads some jewelry for her clients.

August 23, 2005  Sorry that I have been away so long but I have just been so busy with orders that I have not been able to do much computer time.

Today I had quite an interesting day.  I did two interviews with Dale Smeltzer of Glass Talk Radio as a co-host.  The first interview was with Maureen James of Profitable Glass Quarterly. It will be broadcast September 6th.  The second interview was with Josh Simpson. It will be broadcast October 4th.  It was really a lot of fun and very educational.  I've never done anything like that before.

August 18,2005 The new dichroic lampwork beads yesterday turned out wonderful.

Today I went to the dental hygienist to have my teeth cleaned and then on to Gottschalk's to buy a new bed.  After much laying around I decided upon a Tempur-Pedic mattress with the adjustable frame so that I can put it in all sorts of positions.  I can't wait; but I'll have to.  I won't receive it for about two weeks.  Yay!  Yay!

August 16,2005  Took the fused strips and designs made from my newly arrived dichroic sheets out of the kiln this morning.  I was so excited that I immediately went to play making a variety of beads with them to see what the different colors would do in the flame.

I then made some other lampwork beads using Effetre glass.  It's from Italy.  I also used the American brand Bullseye in some other work.  A lot of colors are available in one kind of glass that aren't available in another kind, so I use various types depending upon the effects that I want to achieve.

I finished making some earring cards for some earrings that I made and then on to the computer for email, etc.

August 15, 2005 Made some wonderful dichroic glass earrings today and received three new sheets of dichroic glass with Coatings by Sandberg.  I couldn't wait to cut it up into some great designs and get it in my Paragon kiln.  Hmmmm!  Tomorrow I get to take it out.  Great excitement to see what it will look like.  One sheet was a color that is an old friend of mine - silver, but the other two were new to me on clear.  Can't wait to see how they will perform.  Got some great ideas for uses for these for fall and holiday items.  And, of course, when I see how they look tomorrow, I will be inspired to do other designs also.

I also did some photography of some lampwork necklaces.  Here is one I did for a gallery owner.

August 14, 2005 I'm sorry friends that I have been away from my writing for so long.  I've been in a lot of pain lately from my fibromyalgia and haven't felt too chatty.  There were two days in the middle of the week that were really bad.

Yesterday I spent about six and one-half hours with six friends from high school and one other.  What a trip through lots of memories and new thoughts.  It's interesting to see all of the different paths we have taken through the years.

I've been working on some custom jewelry and bead orders for people.  It is always fun doing dream fulfillment for people.  You conceive--I create.  Your wish is my command.

Take care of yourselves.  We're all so precious.

August 8, 2005 Made lots of beads of all kind - some for yesterday's client and some for some others.  I just love working with all of those great colors.  What fun coming up with all of the ideas and how to make them work.  Sometimes ideas pan out and sometimes no; but it is in the expression that there is joy.

Need to order some dichroic glass and some regular rods.  I'll get on the phone tomorrow as it is too late today.

August 7, 2005 Client came by today so that we could design more beads for her fall line - nice, nice.  Beautiful color combos.

August 5, 2005  Back to making beads.

Since I took my laptop with me this time, it was great to come home to having all of my email and internet business all taken care of.  What great modern conveniences!

Gave the dog a good brushing today.   Was he ever appreciative.

August 4, 2005  Returned home to Selma in the San Joaquin Valley.  It's hot here -- around 104°.  A lot different from all of those wonderful ocean breezes that I have been experiencing.

August 3, 2005 Went to see the King Tutankhamun exhibit today.  It was great seeing it.  I hadn't seen him since he was in San Francisco many years ago.  Last time it inspired me to create some faience -- at least my attempts at doing so.  I'm at least inspired to do some pieces with gold, coral, turquoise and lapis colors.  All of the gilding on objects was great eye candy --in today's terms, lots of bling.

On the way up from Laguna had also stopped to do some shopping in South Coast Plaza -- all of those beautiful stores!  Then, on to the Rain Forest Cafe for a great lunch of a lettuce wrap and some foo foo drink in a glass with flashing lights and a Volcano  (a totally sinful dessert with chocolate brownies, vanilla ice cream, tons of whipped cream, caramel and a sparkler on top).  Ahh, paradise.

Now, to the swimming pool and jacuzzi at the hotel.

What a rough day!!!

August 2, 2005 I have been in Laguna Beach since yesterday.

I have wanted to see the Pageant of the Masters for some years now after my mom told me about it.  It's phenomenal.  The theme for the year is On the Road.  The road being Route 66.  A part of this is also the Festival of Arts with about 145 great artists participating.

Today we went to the Sawdust Festival.  I hadn't been to that in about 29 years.  More arts and crafts.  Love that eye candy.  Went for a walk on the beach and a wonderful lunch of spinach salad with a great frozen margarita and then on to more galleries before returning to our room at La Casa del Camino.

July 31, 2005  The room is looking good. The seeing of old clients and new were great -- as was the seeing of a friend from junior high and high school.  Good wine, cheese, fruit and other snacks were had by all.

July 30, 2005  Just arrived in Santa Monica and have spent the afternoon book and fashion shopping on the 3rd Street Promenade.  Want a book on Excel and RSS feeds.  Then went out on the end of the pier for a drink and a Mexican seafood meal at Mariasol.  Hmmmm, good.

Back to the Sheraton to set up the room for all of tomorrow's designers.

July 28, 2005  My tithe to the Board of Equalization went out in the mail Tuesday.  Rah!  Rah!

Every day I've been making more beads to take south; but today the power has been out for five hours -- a pigeon burned himself to a crisp on the power lines.  Ooops, no more power.

July 25, 2005  More days of jewelry making and the great excitement of paperwork.  It is sales tax time the end of the month here in CA.  Ahhh, the fun of filling in all of those blanks and adding up all of those figures.

It is one mind set being an artist and it's a completely different one in the business of being an artist.

I've been creating some elegant two-strand neckpieces for an upcoming show and for a charity event for the Children's Hospital in Fresno.  I'm incorporating my lampwork glass beads -- some with dichroic glass -- and baroque pearls in metallic shades along with different sizes and colors of Swarovski crystals.  This jewelry will be perfect with this fall's fashion colors.

July 21,2005  Another two days of intensive bead making.  I need to get some out to clients and then I want a good selection for my trunk sale in Los Angeles the last Sunday of this month.

Here in the San Joaquin Valley these are the hottest of days -- always above 100° for quite a while now.

July 19, 2005  Spend the last two days making lots of lampwork beads and preparing them for designers

Scruffy has been keeping me company in the studio.  I think he is quite fond of the air conditioning.  Me, too.

July 17, 2005  Hot day here in the valley.  I have lots to do in getting ready to visit clients in Southern CA in two weeks.  Some great glass beads I got to feast my eyes on this morning -- now to just print out those postcards and mailing lists.

The dogs are already petted and bathed.

July 16, 2005.  I spent the morning working on some new color combinations.  Wow!!!  They're great.  I love creating lampwork  beads-- all those wonderful things that can be done with shape, color and textures.  Phenomenal!  Phenomenal!  And I have some great ideas for some earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.  Tomorrow is dichroic glass bead and jewelry day.  Just too much fun--as if there is such a thing.

July 15,2005  Spent this morning taking more pictures so that I can then choose the one that I want to put on my postcard to send to my Southern California clients.  I look forward to seeing you there.

On another note, it seems as everyone shows their favorite animals.  So, here is one I took of our family's latest addition.  As we live in the country, we take in many dogs and cats that get thrown out into the countryside.  Scruffy has been around about four weeks now.  He came with almost no hair from the shoulders down, all bones - hips sticking out, and layers and layers of rips, tears and bites.  Mom rescued him while two of the neighbors' dogs from down the street had him down in the avenue and were chewing on his legs.  (The neighbors' kids say their dogs have killed others.)  She shot blanks.  The others ran.  He's here.

This is his debut.  This is the first time he would let me take his picture. He said that he didn't want to be remembered as he was when we found him -- just his wonderfulness now.

Lampwork Bead Artist outside His Studio

July 14, 2005  I starting making my reservations today to go to Los Angeles - Laguna Beach area from about July 30th to August 3rd or 4th - deciding on what I decide to do.  I know I am checking into the Four Points Sheraton in Culver City on Green Valley Drive on the 30th.  I am having an Open House in my hotel room on the 31st between 10 and 5.  Please come on by and see my newest beads or your old favorites.  You'll love the new colors for fall and holiday  -- some great ones to help you with the transition of the seasons.

July 13, 2005   Still am having trouble with writer's block.  Those who have tried to talk when I want to talk find this hard to believe.  Verbally I can go on and on and on.

July 12, 2005  Well, I've been wanting to start a blog for about a year, so I've finally decided that there is no better time than the present.  (Isn't that true of most things in life?)

I've never been sure that I would have anything to write about; but if I don't start I will never know what I can be capable of.

In these pages I will talk of my life and loves--stuff both personal and professional.

If you any additions or questions about me or my business on any level, just email, call or write.

Take care and enjoy.
