The glass used in these lampworked beads and fused pendants was developed by NASA for use in the space program. It has also been used in photographic applications and telescopes. There are various formulations of metallic oxides used to achieve the shimmering colors. They are applied in numerous very thin layers. These layers will withstand high temperatures and are not affected by moisture, solvents or most acids.
